Knowledge

For our Personal Progress activity in July, we learned basic first aid and CPR for Girls Camp. We also discussed the basic items we would need in a first aid kit in case of emergency. This will pass off value experience #7, with just a little added work at home. :)
At Young Women camp you learn skills in first aid, safety, sanitation, and survival. Review these teachings in your Young Women Camp Manual and note in your journal how you could apply them in your home to keep your family safe. Develop a list of basic supplies your family will need in case of an emergency. Teach a family home evening lesson or share with a Young Women leader what you have learned and what additional skills you would like to learn to be prepared for emergencies.
To do at home: Teach a Family Home Evening lesson -OR- share with your Young Women leader what you have learned and what additional skills you would like to learn to be prepared for emergencies.

Faith

For our May Personal Progress we painted flower pots and planted flowers. Just like plants need to be nurtured with water and sun (and love) to grow, so do our testimonies.  We must exercise faith in our Heavenly Father and follow the example of our Savior by living a Christ like life.  We can nourish our testimony by reading our scriptures, attending our Church meetings, paying our tithing and making good choices, especially when it is hard.

For this activity we worked on Faith Value experience #3, which reads:

"Living gospel principles requires faith. Read about faith in the Bible Dictionary or True to the Faith. Faith in the Savior Jesus Christ leads to action. Choose a principle such as prayer, tithing, fasting, repentance, or keeping the Sabbath day holy. In your own home or another setting, plan and present a family home evening lesson about how faith helps you live that gospel principle. If possible, ask a family member to share an experience that has strengthened his or her faith. Share your own experiences as well. In your journal write down one of those experiences and describe your feelings about faith."

To do at home:  See above.

Knowledge

For our March Personal Progress Activity we learned about Knowledge value experience #1, which reads:
Learn about the importance of gaining knowledge by reading Proverbs 1:5; 4:7; 2 Nephi 28:30; and Doctrine and Covenants 88:78–80, 118; 90:15; 130:18–19; 131:6. Think about why you need to gain knowledge and understanding about how to apply gospel principles to your present and future home and family life. Write in your journal what you have learned about knowledge, and discuss it with a family member or Young Women leader.
We read all the above scriptures while learning to tie a quilt for Sister Sorensen's new baby. We discussed what kinds of knowledge we can gain now to help our families and prepare for a home and family of our own in the future. Some of these were spritual like developing a regular prayer and scripture study to strengthen our testimony.  Others were temporal, such as learning how to cook or manage your money.

Completed at Activity:  Read above scriptures.  Discussed what knowledge we can gain now to better serve those around us and our future home and families.

To do at Home:  Write in your journal what you have learned about knowledge.  Discuss with a family member or Young Women leader.

Once experience is completed, please let your Personal Progress or Young Women's leaders know.

Individual Worth

At our Personal Progress activity in February, we worked on Individual Worth value experience #3, which reads:
Read Doctrine and Covenants 18:10 and 121:45. Do all you can to build others and make them feel of worth. Every day for two weeks notice the worthwhile qualities and attributes of others. Acknowledge them verbally or in writing. In your journal write what you have learned about the worth of individuals and how your own confidence grows when you build others.

We read the Dog Food story found here and made Valentine's to take to someone who might need a little lifting up. Perhaps it was someone we hadn't given a fair chance or someone we didn't know very well that  needed a little fellowship.

Completed at activity:  Read above scriptures listed in the experience.

To do at Home: Notice the worthwhile qualities in others for two weeks. Acknowledge them verbally or in writing and then write in your journal what you leaned about Individual Worth.

When you have completed the value experience, report back to your Personal Progress leader or Young Women's leaders.
